Which Leather is the best Leather for Lingerie?
Well, the jury is still out on the definitive answer but here is some information to help you decide for yourself. Leather lingerie is usually made from either Cowhide leather or Lambskin leather. Both have their pluses and their minuses. Cowhide is a very tough leather and has long been used for tough leather garments such as flight jackets. But not suitable for lingerie. But now with modern technology it can be produced to be very supple, soft and gentle. The top quality Cowhide is "Top Cowhide" but some products are made with weaker layers of Buff Cowhide. So if you buy cowhide leather lingerie go for "Top Cowhide"..ask if it doesn't tell you on the lingerie garment label. Lambskin is a marvellous soft leather and very often seen as a luxury leather but if not treated with care it can easily be damaged. Lingerie of Lambskin is often made with an inner fabric layer to protect the leather's form and the lingerie itself. Some manufacturers, such as Allure, insist on only using top quality Top Cowhide leather in their leather lingerie. Which ever leather lingerie you go for treat it with respect and it should last a long time. Also give some due to the animals which have given their lives and skins in the production of the the leather lingerie. |
